There are many designers that are starting to use sustainable materials for their clothing. One of them are, Judy Lee who is a talented designer behind the ultra-unique line: Joodito. Joodito garments are born from salvaged materials; constructed by organic, experimental methods. The style is best described as a marriage between futurism and espionage with an eye catching appeal. Joodito is a one-man show. Judy Lee is the designer, the seamstress, the photographer, copyrighter, and everything else in between. She enjoys everything she does, but in the same breath there are pros and cons to being a designer. She quotes, “The best perk is having the freedom to be creative, as well as the leisure to work at odd hours. On the downside, I take sole responsibility for every action made. Precision, punctuality and mostly, self-motivation are paramount.” Random thing, like men in uniform and geometric shapes, inspires her. She is quite a minimalist, with an affinity for a muted palette and clean lines
Judy Lee is 27 years old and her hometown is the City of Boston and that is where she was born and raised. She worked for a young e-commerce company, fresh out of college. This is where she learned about Photoshop, studio photography, auction design, etc. One day this company went bankrupt, so she started selling clothes from her closet. She didn’t have expectations, she needed rent money and then everything else feel into place. In school she studied nursing and psychology in college. Post graduation, she changed her mind and applied to Parsons of New York and got accepted! But she did not receive any formal training in art or fashion design. She went to a rigorous college preparatory high school, which only taught academics. Her first time on the Singer, her boyfriend showed her how to wind a bobbin and she was hooked (on sewing) ever since. Her interest in fashion began because she was always fascinated with fashion, for as long as she could remember. She shops, but seldom and finds exactly what she desires. For a long time she has been making her own clothes.
